Fun with Abuela

Fun with Abuela

At the beginnig of August, my mom came for a visit, and Abigail and Isa have been having a blast. One of Abigail's favorite things to do is to sit in Abuela's lap and listen to her tell the stroy of "Susie and her Hats" and "The Three Bears."

We've done lots of fun things while Abuela has been here from going to the beach and the pool to visiting the Aquarium in A Coruña. Abigail's favorite parts about the Aquarium were the octopus and the divers. When we went to see the octopus tank, divers were cleaning it, so we didn't think we'd get to see an octopus because they would be too scared to swim around. The diver in the window nearest us waved at Abigail, and she thought that was pretty cool. Then he reached sown and pulled out a huge octopus and shoved it up close to the glass. Abigail absolutely loved it and Mom got a really good picture of the whole thing.

Mom also made us a "back to your roots" meal of chicken and noodles and mashed potatoes last week. Abigail was a great helper rolling out the dough for the noodles. For days afterward if she made anything with play-doh, it was noodles.

Zucchinis, possibles, and loading

Yesterday Abigail was playing outside in her swim suit. When I got home from the café, she came running out to me and said, "Look Mom. I wear my zucchini!" She also eats "possibles" instead of popsicles, and loves to "play loading" on the computer.

Isa... to crawl... or to sit up...

Isa is now propping herself up in a half-sit, leaning on one hand. She's gotten pretty good at it, too. She can almost sit without leaning, but I think that will be a bit longer.

She is almost crawling as well. She gets up on all fours and rocks - sometimes launching herself forward trying to get at whatever is just beyond her reach. So we're waiting to see what she'll do first - crawl or sit up on her own.

Pears and peas and bananas

Isa is now eating some solid foods like pears and peas and bananas. Just yesterday she started eating carrots and loved them. She still has only two teeth on the bottom so everything is mashed up really well, since there still isn't much to chew with.

She loves to play with Abigail and to listen to stories and songs as well. She also loves to laugh. Almost every time she sits in her high-chair to eat, we get to laughing and it is so much fun.
